June 2006 bottom looks pretty significant

stockcharts.com

This chart has me scratching my bald head. The QQQQ is a widely traded ETF that pretty well nails down the feelings of the market.

What we can see on the chart that the volume in the 2006 bottom was more significant than that of the 2002 bottom.

Usually at bottoms you would expect large red volume bars near the low with large black volume bars at the trend change,

This was the case in both situations but the one in 2006 was more significant, meaning the market players were even more bearish at the 2006 bottom than the 2002 bottom.

This is why I have said that I believe there are too many bears in the house to have a meaning full market decline and that more rally will have to take place to undue this situation.

You would think that higher volume now than back then would be due to more traders trading the QQQQ now than back then but as you can see the volume is almost flat for the last 4 years overall, this is also amazing being that the overall volume of the market has rose dramtically during this time.

This leads me to believe that the QQQQ has lost some of its appeal.
