Thank you for replying on the 1080i vs. 720p issue (and sorry that you got into a dissertation on the topic as a consequence).

I've viewed a Mitsubishi 1080i rear-projection screen. With an HDTV in-store generated source, the detail is excellent. It is a bit unsettling to be able to pick out every hair on a porcupine, then looking over to a standard television to just see a blur. In fact, the HDTV image seems more natural, and the way it ought to be, and you don't realize that it is not in fact that way until you look over to the exisiting televised image.

I have a situation in my home where a plasma display would be most suitable, given construction constraints. That is why I was considering the Pioneer 50" 720p display. I also find plasma brighter than rear projection. But there are definitely trade-offs. I hate to wait forever for all this technology to come together.
