I have never been layed off (or fired) from any company.

How fast will the K7 be? I really don't know for sure. It depends on their design approach. High frequency and less work per clock ala RISC or more work per clock and lower frequency ala cyrix. One thing is certain, no one has been able to do both high frequency and more work per clock although Intel has come the closest. I expect the K7 to appear on their .25u process because a new device on a new process is too risky. Nobody wants to debug two things at once. AMD however has made some really stupid decisions in the past so anything is possible.

Don't forget:
The product that will save AMD is always the next one.
The product that will finally catch Intel is always the next one.
The quarter when AMD will turn the corner is always the next one.
