For those who continue to hold on to the belief that there was a connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda, here is something to ponder about. Who is Al Zarqaqi? Has anyone seen him? At least we have videos of Osama bim Laden.

Al-Zarqawi competing with Bin laden for power, limelight and acceptance

Al-Zarqawi may not be part of real Al-Queda. He may be in competition with Bin Laden and company. According to US based think tank Startfor, Jihadist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is trying to make his group into much more than a militant organization in Iraq. By demanding that U.S. coalition partners withdraw their forces and placing bounties on the heads of Interim Iraqi Government (IIG) members, al-Zarqawi hopes to make his group a political organization capable of taking control of Iraq. He also appears to be competing with al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden in soliciting support.

While Stratfor may be correct to some extent, no one really knows this character Al-Zarqawi. No one has seen him, heard him and he exists in video tape causing horrific effects only. It seems though there is an organization he heads which may be a part of Al-Queda or a local cell of Al-Queda. The people who are beheading in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and else where – are they from the same organization? It seems that the process of beheading in case of Daniel Pearl was the start in this chapter of horrific beheading and strangely it started in Pakistan. It is possible that these people belong to the same organization. It also seems these group of people may have moved out from Pakistan and moved into Iraq and Saudi Arabia after ISI and Musharraf of Pakistan decided not to provide them shelter.

Then who is Al-Zarqawi? A person who was shielded by ISI in Pakistan? Many people say he is a Jordanian. But who ever says anything about him really predicts. He may not even exist since no one really saw his uncovered face. Someone may have created him just to confuse others for the purpose of distraction from something else some one is up to.

If you look at his objectives and motives, things may be clearer. He has achieved in making some coalition partners run away from Iraq with threats of beheading their citizens. He has also threatened and put bounties on the head of the current Iraq leadership. He is definitely an enemy of US. He really wants allies to leave, the current Iraqi leaders to disappear. Then what is left? US military will not going to pull out because of that. Then what? Can he part of Baath party that sincerely hopes to Saddam come back to power all the rest be purged? Possible. It is possible Iraqi Baath party created this fictitious horrific figure to scare all out of Iraq.

All that we can do is to predict. Al-Zarqawi is a much more complicated case than Saddam or Bin Laden.
