$44 Million Won In Patent Case

Published Jan 15 2002

The Minneapolis law firm Kinney & Lange has won a $44
million patent infringement case for SPX Corp., a
Michigan-based company that was built through the
acquisition of Marquette Electronics, a former Twin Cities
company.

The arbitration award was against Kenosha, Wis.-based
Snap-on Inc. and involved technology in digital
automobile-engine analyzers. The infringement dated to 1987
and involved sales of $500 million, said Paul Kempf, a Kinney
& Lange attorney.
