Osama Bin Laden headed for US custody or a sleeping cat getting ready to make a surprise attack again?

Sudhir Chadda, Special Correspondent
July 17, 2004

Why is Osama quiet for such a long time? Why did Al-Quaida break its central command and is working of local cells? What happened to Pakistan offensive in the North West Tribal areas? Why is Al-Quaida so upset with Pakistan?

Answer to all this can be in the fact that Osama is in Pakistani custody waiting to be delivered to US officials just before the US Presidential elections. This will not only make Bush win bur also help make Republican handsomely retain the House and gain the Senate.

The other alternative is that Osama is operating in his usual style of total silence before the major strike. In the past he has kept a total low profile for six months or more before creating the major surprise terror attack. This time the sleeping cat may be ready too.
While US is focused on nuclear and radiological suitcase bombs, he may be thinking something we never even imagine. While Airports in US are relatively secured, this terror artists may be planning a total different ball game this time.

Will he act before the election? That depends if he is free and if he wants to make Bush win. US is not Spain. If these is a terror attack just before the election like in Spain, Bush will definitely win. Iraq conquest if US has actually helped Osama. So hemay be very interested in keeping Bush in power. That really secures his Jihadi base. If Bush is gone, so will his invisible power in his grass root Islamic network. A strong and powerful enemy keeps a coalition in tact.

My comment:
Notice how there is distrust for this Administration. It modus operandi of secrecy makes the world distrust this Administration. Now if Osama is produced just before the elections, it would be interesting to see how the American electorate would feel about playing politics with terrorism, raising these alert levels, telling people to be cautious while at the same time holding onto the most feared terrorist in secret.
