A quick look through American history suggests that nothing really has changed. The election process has always been subject to abuse whenever politicians can get away with it.

Personally, I think every single primary should be held on the same day. We live in the Internet age these days, and the old traditions are, to put it mildly, quaint. Kind of stupid to have Iowa and NH dictate the entire flow of the primary campaigns.
