Re: PFF went to a new Index 1/31 which likely impacted many of those late

Excellent info, Maverick.

From your lead, I pulled the SEC Form 497 which outlines the transition strategy PFF is implementing. Worth a quick read as it spells out issue size and liquidity minimums for inclusion in the new index. A number of preferreds we all invest in will avoid the new index and subsequent disruptions as they do not qualify. I consider that a positive!

And if some SI participants have nothing to do this weekend, you can go to the iShares website for PFF and download to Excel their entire holdings list. I did so for the past 3 months, and you can see the all the changes being made. What a mess.

Agree 100% with Gridbird. Trying to create and follow an index based on such a small segment of the securities markets is a fools errand. Think of the all-in trading costs. And paying 46 bps for a 5 yr annualized return of 4.39%? Forget it!
