Broadcom says comfortable with analysts' Q4 estimates

IRVINE, Calif., Nov 9 (Reuters) - Communications semiconductor maker Broadcom Corp. (NasdaqNM:BRCM - news) said on Thursday it was
comfortable with analysts' fourth-quarter financial estimates calling for the company to earn 31 cents per share.

The Irvine, Calif.-based company, which on Monday agreed to buy chip maker Sybyte Inc. for stock worth up to $2.04 billion, also said it was
comfortable with analysts' estimates of a sequential quarterly percentage revenue growth rate in the mid-teens.

That level of revenue growth would represent a revenue increase of more than 125 percent over last year's fourth quarter, the company noted.

Broadcom said it made the statement ``in light of the extraordinary market reaction this week in the wake of concerns expressed by some analysts
regarding potential
reduced demand in the current quarter for certain communications chips''.

Broadcom's stock tumbled 19 percent on Tuesday along with others in its industry on renewed fears of softening demand for chips. The stock extended
its losses on Wednesday, falling 14 percent, or $24-11/16, to finish at $151-13/16 on the Nasdaq.
