AS of 6am central time, Hong Cong market off 4.8%, Japanese market off almost 2%, German DAX off 4%. Not a pretty picture. However in London as you state Intel off only a fraction.
In the past few years whenever Intel has declined 20 % ,it was very close to a great buying opportunity. I don't think the Asian problem makes Intel worth 20% less. Today should be exciting ..in fact i couldn't stay asleep, thats why I'm up this early. A news announcement before the open (price reductions?) and one at 10 AM accompanied by a confertence call (Settlement of DEC lawsuit?) The fact that they are having a conference call indicates that the subject is important and maybe not self obvious). Hold on to your hat today!! I was lucky enough to sell some of my INTC in the $93 range because i was going abroad, so I hope to get it back a lot cheaper in the next couple of days. I'm tempted to get some LEAPS but high volitility usually means excessive premiums.
All in all, I don't think currency crisis is bad for Intel. The 20 % of Intel production shipped to Asia Rim is mostly assembled into PC and shipped out again.
