OT: Country funds/etfs/indexes (indices?): Decided I will diversify a bit more by broadening the country/region specific funds I am holding. I'll take a few starter shares of [t]AFK[/t],Market Vectors Africa Index ETF. Intending to buy more if the etf falls, and/or if price rises and I come to understand prospects better.

I don't see this one - AFK - mentioned elsewhere on SI. West Africa is or will undergo a great boom as China comes in with people and money to upgrade the area's infrastructure. In return for which, China gets to participate in the new large oil fields being found off-shore. (I hope off-shore oil drilling will not be curtailed.) There's no specific West Africa fund/etf play, and so this AFG becomes the best venue I see.
As a "frontier" play, I'll guess I will have to be a holder of AFK for at least several years before I know if a buy now will pay off.

Fwiw, I hold now:

FXI - China (an index for the larger Chinese companies. For the smaller/smallest companies, I hold them as individual stocks)
EWY - Korea (a way to hold Hyundai and LG)
BRF - Brazil (a way to hold smaller, locally-oriented companies. For the larger companies, I hold individual positions.)
PLND - Poland
AFK - Africa

Not a fund, but stretching a point: PRGAF.PK -- this thing holds several European stocks.
