>> Liberals more likely to cheat on taxes

There is no doubt in my mind this is the case. It was always interesting to me that the more left-leaning a client was, the more they wanted the CPA to push the limits.

Those whom I knew to be conservative consistently took they position they should pay every nickel of taxes they owe, and to err on the side of caution. Liberals consistently would push to take borderline deductions or exclude income which was taxable. With liberals it was always, "What can I get away with?".

After forming a partnership with my (now ex-) brother in law, an extreme liberal, it became a huge problem as he would tend toward letting clients get away with stuff that clearly shouldn't have been. In one instance I had to call a client in to break the news to him he had to report 250K in debt forgiveness after my partner had prepared a return that totally ignored the cancellation of indebtedness. We lost the client over it.

I can tolerate errors (I even made one once myself); but errors in judgment are totally different in the tax business.
