(OT): I'm no fan of Clinton, but exactly what sort of action would you suggest, sending gunboats to the gulf to steal the oil? I'd rather see policies aimed at reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. If it wasn't so shockingly wasteful I'd be laughing out loud at all these Californian suburbanites driving to the grocery store in their 4WD behemoths that will never see snow or dirt. Burning coal for electricity and oil for ground transportation is unsustainable. Not only will we eventually run out, the greenhouse gases are beginning to produce unmistakable signs of planetary warming. We have more pressing uses for petroleum, including pastics and as feedstocks to numerous chemical processes. If we still want our kids to have the benefits of civilization a century from now we'll have to find a better way to run it.
