Re: Barron's article

Perhaps the article has some positives in disguise:

1) The Barron's article presents the Sony competition to the masses early in the game. While some Iomega investors were previously aware of the 200 MB HiFD threat, I would imagine we represent a minority. With common awareness, the future impact of Sony/Fuji press releases will likely be minimized with an "I've already known that for some time" response.

2) If we are to take any sort of hit, I'd certainly prefer for it to be now. With Sony product shipments still months out, I believe existing investors are more likely to hold IOM shares at this time because there is no immediate threat. The delay between now and the first Sony shipments will serve to temper any negative reaction. It gives investors adequate time to properly review the situation.

3) It appears Iomega is heading for a blockbuster quarter. With a record backlog, improving margins, the Holiday season, and new product introductions, we're bound to see impressive results. This may help serve to damper the opinion that the HiFD could quickly be an "Iomega Killer".

4) One last selfish possibility: I took profits recently and am looking for a short term pullback in order to get back in the game.

Regards - Dale
