For removing files, I've had good luck with the erasing program available from tolvanen.com Be careful using FORMAT. A quick format will only overwrite the links to your data and leave the data itself untouched. You should make sure that both the data and the links get removed. Programs designed to do this often overwrite data a number of times, which gets rid of all the tiny traces that can be read with data recovery tools. Cheers, PW.
