vepoc:I know the meaning of the word consensus. To quote S. I. Hayakawa, "Meanings are not in words, they are in us." Consensus does not necessarily imply unanimity, it's merely the judgement arrived at by most. Most analysts think that CPQ will earn about .37. It may very well be the average as well. I think First Call, Equity Analytics and Zacks know what they're doing. If they were just determining the average, why wouldn't they say so? Since it is important to know (you started this "semantics game" in post 37828), I'll volunteer to contact those firms and find out. Let you know the response.

Re your comments on Kumar: It's not a question of liking Kumar - that 10/13 comment of his lost CPQ about 2 points that day. He does seem to have a penchant for coming out at just the wrong time (as far as shareholders are concerned) and saying something negative. He does, however, do his own research and doesn't just regurgitate what the company tells him AND he rates CPQ a BUY.

K

PS: Kumar just cut estimates on Gateway so we may see a down day today.
