Norm, let me speculate, and this is speculation.

NTAP is working on the roll out of its large clustered configurations. FC will play a major role in this architecture. FC will be used to give multiple filers access to each others disk arrays. NTAP is looking for the most reliable, robust method(s) of building that FC architecture.

Could be that VIXL has some capability that others do not have in the FC. FC is not a well defined architecture, as far as interoperability standards are concerned, so there is a great deal of innovation in this product space.

Does anyone have any insight into VIXL's strengths? Their stock has certainly suffered over the last few months:
