The Taliban are back in Kandahar according to an expert I heard just back from Afghanistan. And the most disturbing part of it is that the Pakistanis are supporting them. The rest of Afghanistan has reverted to tribal drug lord/war lord types. Since the invasion, the opium/heroin trade in Afghanistan has soared.

Much of the blame for this goes to Bush's pulling out to focus on Iraq, a country which at the time had nothing to do with terrorism.
