Doesn't elite mean 'good?' Is that not something we're looking for in a president anymore? ... I know elite is a bad word in politics. You want to go bowling and throw back a few beers. But the job you're applying for---if you get it and it goes well---they might carve your head into a mountain. If you don't actually think you're better than us, then what the fuck are you doing? ... [N]ot only do I want an elite president, I want someone who is embarrassingly superior to me."
---Jon Stewart

Yeah, I saw that show......a good one!

J. Stewart's comments notwithstanding, there is a problem with his thesis. The bubbas of the world don't want to be reminded of their shortcomings. That's why Bush worked out so well......the smuck spoke just like them but could also point out the 'elite' schools he attended. Even the fact that daddy bought those degrees fits right in with what bubbas think is cool. An added bonus......Bush probably never had a very extensive vocabulary but Rove and he worked hard dumbing down what vocabulary he had and throwing in that good ole boy accent to boot.

So that's what it boils down to....another dumbass like Bush vs an 'elite'....a guy who has accomplished a lot and will accomplish a lot more in the future. What has me worried is that we'll end up.....once again.....with the guy we deserve and not the one we need.
