Wireless and the future....or no future.

With all this talk about wireless, are we ignoring many statements regarding possible health hazards associated with electrical fields.

The current cell phone craze has muted concerns of many who can link usage of cell phones to certain forms of brain cancer. With the enormous amount of money that has been invested into cellular communications, much has been done to quiet these findings. Perhaps we should read what has been called ... Matthias Meier
Programme Manager
EME Motorola Corporate Communications

Dear Mr. Meier,

I am afraid that I must repeat my allegation that your company is not putting to the public the entire truth about the present state of scientific knowledge concerning health risks from mobile phones. Furthermore, there is little currency in the argument that because some regulatory authorities do not set appropriate standards that you are thereby exonerated. The Consumer Protection Act 1987 conveys strict liability on the producer to ensure that his products are safe. The present standards do not provide ample protection against any known health risks, and a number of reputable institutions are concerned that they are inadequate, and have instituted large research programmes to obtain better characterization of possible adverse health effects. Until the issue is resolved you are obliged to fix warning labels on your handsets. I must therefore ask for your company's written undertaking that it will affix warning labels on handsets to the effects that users should be aware that there may be health risks from prolonged exposure to modulated RF in the 900MHz. frequency range. If I do not receive this undertaking from Motorola I shall take the appropriate legal action to ensure that compliance with the relevant sections of the Consumer Protection Act 1987 is achieved.

Yours Sincerely,
Roger Coghill
