MetaSolv takes TBS to the Web

ORLANDO--MetaSolv Software brought its flagship product into the next generation yesterday with the launch of TBS 2000 Version 4.2 at the OSS 2000 Conference here.
Three major enhancements are included in the new version: a Web ordering interface, IP address management and flow-through activation for data.
“We're focused on order management and service fulfillment for next generation service providers,” said Dana Brown, vice president of marketing for MetaSolv.
With its new Web interface for ordering, TBS now supports functionality for provisioning and management of Internet services such as e-mail, Web-hosting and Internet access via DSL or dial-up. The interface captures required information for dial-up services such as modem speed, number of e-mail boxes, desired e-mail address and passwords.
“We made the interface simple so users wouldn't have to figure out how to get all the information from the system,” Brown said.
TBS' self-care module allows immediate access to service offerings via the Internet. Also new in version 4.2 is a real-time credit card authorization interface to verify payment before completing an order.
The IP address management module reduces the potential for outages by automatically assigning IP addresses for users and equipment. The module includes a domain name registration application interface that permits communication between TBS software and third party domain registration services and allows real-time registration of domain names.
TBS software now has the functionality to manage both voice and data products. It enables service providers to provision backbone network infrastructures such as Sonet, ATM or IP.
By using Syndesis' Netprovision Activator, TBS software can be used to provision converged voice and data services, virtual private network services, DSL and frame relay services. The solution allows provisioning of these services over networks including IP, MPLS, ATM or time division multiplexed.
