Danny, I can see that you want to see DMT and CAP competing each other. That seems good but actually bad for our customers. I bet if DMT and CAP co-standard appears next year, you will have to buy a dual modem that works for both DMT and CAP. That means people may pay extra money for the same speed. For this reason, I prefer one tech. even I believe two may get through. I see this as a bad move since what they really need to do now is to speed up sovling many networking issues rather than battleing on DMT vs CAP. A good success story similar to this is MPEG2 standard. They choose only cosine transform rather than cosine transform and wavelet together. In the end, customer benifits. As for advantage of DMT vs CAP, I agree 6M or 5M does not make big difference to me. But if DMT is 20% better than CAP, it makes big sense to RBOC since it can reach 20% longer distance for the same speed or 50% more coverage area. Still customer benifits.
