I agree with you that Hitler wasn't a socialist. Many other Nazi's where, but in the end he made the decisions.

But they where not close to 180 degrees from socialism.

Both the fascists (the group the nazis are a subset of) and historical socialist regimes, wanted state domination of the means of production. The socialist wanted direct ownership, and a greater degree of planning, while the fascist where willing to keep private ownership and the profit motive, but in both cases it was harnessed to the interests and initiatives of the leaders.

180 degrees from socialism would be anarcho-capitalism.
