The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that the bankruptcy trustee for Bre-X Minerals is seeking trading records from six brokerage firms to back up allegations that several former Bre-X officials engaged in improper insider trading. Reporters Paul Waldie and Steven Chase says that bankruptcy trustee Ross Nelson of Deloitte & Touche in Calgary has asked the brokerage firms to hand over any books, records, documents and correspondence of paper relating in whole or in part to Bre-X Minerals, according to a recent filing in Alberta's Court of Queen's Bench. The brokerages named are Marleau Lemire Securities, C.M. Oliver, Canaccord Capital, Wood Gundy, RBC Dominion Securities and Haywood Securities. All of the firms say they will comply with any court order requiring them to turn over documents. The trustee has already received trading records from Nesbitt Burns and Dundee Securities. Court documents show that former Bre-X geologists Michael de Guzman, Cesar Puspos and Jerry Alo used accounts at Nesbitt to trade their Bre-X shares.
