Get a life...

I have a pretty good one. When you realize that most of the things that money can buy in the world are worthless than you start to value those things in life that are worth something. -g-

friendship

Its impossible to put a price on friendship.

Water and food have historically had values that fluctuated far beyond the inflated tech bubble. Truffles worth more than gold now. Wars were fought over salt. Water has been especially contentious. But salt, water and food are, at times, approaching free. In fact when you subtract packaging and transportation costs they are almost free.

My point was not that you don't need these things and you won't pay for them, but that there is and never will be any kind of fixed value placed on anything in the world.

Was it irrational herd mentality that caused people to pay $8000 for the first Apple Laser printer back in the early 80s? You can get the same level printer for about $100 now. Markets and consequently prices are frequently irrational as they bounce off the boundaries formed by long term expectations. You want to assign it to some sort of mass hysteria, I was simply pointing out it is markets themselves which are irrational to the upside and downside.
