You're right. I just found this in QP help:

Max( -30 , -59 , RSI ) returns the highest RSI value for the 30 trading day period starting 60 trading days ago.

I wrongly assumed that the middle variable would be that many days back from the day specified in the first variable. But' 't 'aint so.
