That's interesting. According to ABC (I'd furnish the URL, but can't get into Yahoo at the moment) it was Lewinsky who told Tripp about it; and Tripp recorded her comments. The FBI did in fact remove it and other articles of clothing from Lewinsky's apartment, which suggests that this is indeed true.

Goldberg evidently had copies of the tapes, and so may have been responsible for the initial, um, leak to the press. A nice pair, Goldberg and Tripp.
