Very interesting article, Joe, and the comment about the
death watch is aptly put. This is another person who also
seems to think Noorda's megalomania was the real problem
here and that Frankenberg was the fall guy for past mistakes.
Since I've always thought that seemed to be the case and
that Frankenberg should have been given the time to finish
the job he was hired to do, I tend to agree. However, now
I think it's better that Frankenberg is gone not because I
think he wasn't capable but because I think that he couldn't
engender any trust from the business community because of
the legacy he was given.

That seems to be the main problem here: Novell has a superior
product but Novell has not been able to convince the business
community that it's here to stay.

If corporate intranets grow as fast as they're projected to do,
then, as the article says, those who are forecasting the demise
of Novell as a viable entity are "as silly as..." (Guess who!)
