(COMS) and Redback Network Inc. formed an alliance to focus on digital subscriber line, or DSL, deployment from a systems view. In a press release, 3Com said it signed a worldwide distribution agreement for Redback Network's Subscriber Management System 1000 concentrator, a networking device that enhances the scalability of DSL networks. The companies also agreed to tightly integrate their products. Redback, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., develops networking systems for Internet services. 3Com makes hubs and routers.
