How do you think the market would react to a voluntary breakup of MSFT? What if MSFT announced that they were going to spin off everything but Windows?

This would obviously stop the DOJ case dead in its tracks. This way MSFT can split up on their own terms, keeps it's Windows monopoly and source code to itself, and create another monolopy for the desktop apps division. Good or bad?

If some of you haven't noticed, MSFT is trading very near to where it was trading when TPJ came out with his "finding of facts" back in early November.

I'm just wondering if we will be stuck in this trading range till TPJ's "findings of law" is released. I'm not expecting any earth shattering news when it happens. Either we reach a Posner settlement of this case is going to appeals.

I'd hate to see MSFT stuck at $90-$100 for another year. This stock should be trading at $175 right now but it's not. It's sad knowing you've got one of the fastest horses at the track but yet they won't let em out of the barn.
