Carter was head and shoulders above anyone in the current rightwing. He was also the only real Christian amongst them all. Carter was blamed for a lot of things he inherited. He was also unlucky with the dissaterous rescue mission in Iran. Reaganites may have secretly sabotaged Carter's dealings with Iran. There is a lot of evidence about that now. As soon as Raeagan beat Carter, Reaganites were sending sophisticated arms to Iran. Clearly a tit for tat deal was made. Carter was also way ahead is his time on energy and the environment. One of the great tragedies was that Reagan 100% dismnantled Carter's clean energy and efficiency programs which would have had us 100% off Arab oil by now. Carter is also the best ex-president. And he really healed racial wounds in the south, until the rightwing brought the racial hatred boogie man back strictly for self-serving political reason.
