The question was framed in response to some here who portrayed this election as a contest between polar opposites: good and evil, light and dark, etc. I would agree that Bush is more moderate than many of his portrayals; I would say the same of Gore. I would hope to see Bush trying to develop a platform that addresses the concerns of those who voted Democratic; I also hope to hear a good deal less of the "Repiblicans are stupid scum" and "Democrats are lazy lying bastards" rhetoric. A little of that goes a long way.

I remain a bit concerned about the sort of foreign policy that will emerge in a Bush administration; this is a concern peculiar to my being an American living abroad, and I'm not surprised that it is not widely shared. I hope to see a good deal of moderation in that area; time will tell.
