I always wonder if people who propose the government pay for this or that realize that government does not pay anything, it just makes it more expensive for people to pay it. Like I have written before, if you want people who are not receiving benefits to receive them that does not translate to I should pay for them. Freedom of religion is very important. Lots of people do not meet their biblical obligation to tithe 10% of their incomes to their church. Would it be ok if government taxes everyone an extra 15% and churches turn over the identities of their members to receive the 10% taxed from that person? It should reduce the unfair way in which the rich have a larger voice in church affairs. The unclaimed funds could go towards the debt or new boondoggles. "Every state in the country requires drivers to buy liability car insurance. This is a mandate." Some people obey the mandate. Many illegal immigrants do not comply. Should we propose that all people born in America be enrolled in auto insurance at birth too? After all some people cannot afford it. Maybe a transfer payment system to facilitate vehicle insurance for all regardless of driving record would be a public good. Or would it only be a public good if we used it for people with near perfect driving records? While I may try to pick apart your examples (with varying degrees of success), I appreciate that you are willing to offer them. Having another way to view issues helps define and better understand them. We may not always agree, but as long as we are willing to correspond with respect we will learn from each other.
