I think you will find the boys and girls at NTAP absolutely elated that Tucci is talking like this. For so long EMC denied NTAP's threat. Now they are organizing their sales force to target NTAP. I am not concerned about EMC as a threat to NTAP's installed base. That base understands NTAP's strengths and is probably under nondiscloure to hear NTAP's near and mid term product plans. EMC's customers and prospects are more likely to listen to the NTAP story now than before, thanks to the attention brought by Tucci. Next month is when I expect to see formal product announcements from NTAP. (Just a hunch based on past product cycles at NTAP.) These announcements are likely to give the NTAP sales force the real weapons they need to overcome the scalability issues that EMC uses to fight NTAP.
