What becomes apparent about your being a Baptist evangelical , while most others can appreciate classical thought which informed many & most of our founding fathers we find your mind vacant on this like a blank slate? Perhaps i see the problem now more clearly, that you dont "truck" with any of those Roman Catholic classical fellows? The special dispensation that Baptists dont have to draw upon anything but baby Jesus might inform them of all they need to know? Like Hari Krishnas, Sikhs & the Taliban ?

Classsical history was & is a standard part of those earlier men's education as pointed out with George Washington's conscious purpose emulating the acts of an early famous Roman Dictator , Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus. How truth, justice & virtue was defined partly for himself. Its still a standard part of education for most today & most scientists will have exposure to the classical philosophies.

And will always include these early Christian early fathers, especially Augustine & Thomas Aquinas, for they continue the dialogues started by Plato, Aristotle & Socrates. Those who laid the foundations on how we all think about examining the nature of existence, life, defining the world both internal & external plus the way of arriving at agreed upon proofs. Little things like is the Universe finite or infinite, caused or uncaused and what is and is there a God.
