Bryan, >> Frankly, the way you push makes me wonder if you've got a put on NOVL. <<
Bryan,
Nothing could be further from the truth. Really. I do not have puts on NOVL. If there is anyone long on NOVL it's me.
I was just looking for some more informed information (of which I don't claim to have). What caught my eye on FTP, was it's core business of IP connectivity, and Novell's (native) lack of same. I know, later in 97 version whatever of Netware is supposed to have native IP (without a IPX/IP bridge or however it's done). My thinking was perhaps an alliance or use of FTP would/could make this happen "FASTER", because as you yourself say, native IP is already in NT, and is not in NW and is/has been a sticking point. And the way I see it, even more of a sticking point with the advent of TCP/IP being the prominent protocol of choice for a quick trip to the Inter/Intranet environment.
My interpretation is that there is extra cost to be incurred with the way NW provides IP connectivity, and I was commenting on the latest news from FTP and Firefox, etc.. and thier implementation of same with Netware. That's all.
>> If Novell is going to invest, let's hope it's in something that makes a shred of sense, and not something that will take the stock even further into the toilet. <<
If what you say is correct, then, how could I *not* agree. As I said, I was looking for information. Perhaps Eric Hall could've elaborated also, but I assure you, the last person that wants to see this stock dump is ME.
As far as a CEO is concerned, IMO it would have to be someone from a bigger, more visable company than FTP.
I'm sorry if it seemed my posts were coming across as a "push" to short the stock. Nothing could be further from reality.
Regards, and thank you for your feedback,
