Sorry about the lack of info on the fire storm.....
my life long interest is In Paleontology........
the impact in the Yucatan vaporized a hole in the Earth...over 10 miles deep.....and 100+ miles wide.......this material came raining down all over the Western Hemisphere...both north and south.....speculation that some of this even caused fire storms in Europe and Africa has been presented........deposits in New Zealand show a carbon layer at the same K-T boundry that is high in iridum......

the physics of the event...( computer modeling) explain the event as impact...fire...freezing.....( tidal waves greater than 1 mile high were generated.......
World wide climatic upheavel lasted perhaps many thousands of years.........
the ejecta was blown half way to the moon...heavy molten pieces came 'Home' imediatly...the remainder of the material...floated about the globe...giving the Earth the appearence of one of the Gas Giants...Neptune...Uranus....
Impact Geology is the 'new' hot field of study.....
Earth has been hit more than the moon....
we have over 300,000 craters here.....most buried and lost to our view through erosin
T<sp errors are available for free....<g>>
