Very interesting. Kaus makes some good points, but doesn't quite focus on the qualification "the kind of volatility we have seen recently". Although formal collusion would be illegal in the United States, it would in fact not be illegal for an industry executive to make a public statement that volatility had been excessive, and he hoped that some degree of price stability would be achieved. Nor would it be anti- capitalist to wish for greater predictability. Capitalism is not a suicide pact. So, mainly, I don't think there is much to it.........
