The tumbling in Vaal and Orange Rivers, which once ran with much higher water levels - hence much more energy, would reduce diamonds to their elemental, unflawed nucleous. This is why Namibian beach deposits carry higher concentrations of large, unflawed stones. Small flawed stones were ground away before reaching the coast.
