Actually, I doubt very much what I have to say about al Qaida (that they're NFG) would get me too far along the road to personal persecution by the government.

But if it did, you'd be surprised at how fast my defence fund would grow.

The banal last vestiges of the mealy mouthed, humbugging do-gooder culture is finding expression in this nonsense. Some ordinary citizen is going to become a cause celebre or some over zealous official will try to prosecute a national newspaper for an editorial stand and there will be hell to pay.

Politicians are in denial. They forget Canadian electorates throw governments out lock, stock and barrel, and the former government is left as a tiny legislative rump.

The easiest platform for a conservative party in Canada to win on -when they have the spirit- is "Whatever those other guys did, we'll undo it."

There is a long list of things that are extremely unpopular outside of Toronto and Quebec City. The present Federal government is living on borrowed time. Its near relative, the overtly socialist NDP party, has been utterly repudiated and the Liberals are getting close to the same process.

Canadian voters aren't sheepish, they're mulish....
