<<Abstract
Next generation Terabit routers are designed to support the full routing capacity of
an entire core Point Of Presence (POP). Nevertheless, relying on a single router
per POP poses extreme requirements on router up time and reliability. These
requirements include extreme quality, non-disruptive maintenance capabilities,
resilient software and hardware redundancy.
Advances in router hardware and
software design open the road towards the utopia of a non-stop router, enabling
the simplification of next generation IP network architectures, their maintenance
and cost of ownership. However, can service providers be convinced to rely on
these new technologies?
The talk will include an overview on the ways IP networks are designed to be
reliable today and the various possibilities to improve the current situation with
next generation routers.>>

Does this description suggest that Gidi thinks that Aranea possesses these characteristics? Anyone?
