You could have that, today. The reason you don't? Display more than anything else. 2" screens just don't cut it.

Oh, and as far as reading barcodes, Symbol, now Motorola, has all the patents for using scanners in handheld devices. IIRC, they get $25 for anything that does that.

When I was at Telxon, we were working on a project whose goal was to do a lot of what you describe. But, then the Evil Empire came a callin'...
