What is wrong with you? One of my biggest problems is I am addicted to trying to straighten out fools on the internet. If it were financially suitable, they would be extracting the oil from the oil sands in VZ. They are. They would be doing it on a much bigger and growing basis if they had a govt friendlier to the oil industry. The fact that they aren't is an important data point. I repeat, they are. About 600,000+ bpd or so. BTW I follow stocks that extract oil from the oil sands in Canada and they have yet to see a profit. That may change this quarter but it hasn't happened yet. And those sands are on the surface......not buried like in VZ. Suncor has been booking earnings on its oil sands production for at least the last 3 years according to their 07 annual report. suncor.com BTW Did you know 90% of Canada's oil sands are too deep to mine also? The oil sands mining in Canada is concentrated on the other 10%.
