Re -- Despite all the false rumors Paul was spreading here, the problem was not in MediaGX, but is a software Compaq bundles with Presarios.

You explain the incompatibility perfectly (the problems with non-standard systems). Any third party software (of course no third party hardware is allowed) could cause such problems.

Now you completely lost me. The only way to avoid problems is not to load any software on your computer?
