WARNING -- SEXUAL CONTENT FOLLOWS. NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. But it IS Christmas related, so here goes. If you don't want to read it, you go too.

I understand that it was based on the observance of a primitive tribe which cooked and ate male and female sexual organs believing it would enhance their virility. Thus the origin was "a chest and nuts roasting on an open fire." But this was felt too gauche for American audiences, so it was recast into its more familiar form.
