Republican Leach endorses Obama My former boss Jim Leach endorsed Obama today. The news there is Leach is a former Republican member of Congress. He served in the House from Iowa for something like 30 years. And for seven years in the 1980s, he was chairman of the Ripon Society, a moderate Republican group I worked for in D.C. during that time. I had talked to Jim earlier this year and knew he liked Obama's style, but I am surprised he endorsed now as opposed to the fall. Anyway, I respect him for his decision because it's not easy to break from your party.
