The Iraqis have apparently seen the light, as they have hustled to hunt down the groups kidnapping foreigners and threatening to murder them.

I hope so. I noticed that the BBC World News last night, was interrupted in its nightly schadenfreude session by the appearance of someone (didn't catch the name) carrying the title of Iraqi National Security Director, an Arab speaking good English. This guy talked a brave line of how the guys in Fallujah and Al-Sadr's boys are just a few thugs, 99.9% of the country is tranquil, we are going to assert our authority, etc.

I remembered thinking, I don't care if this guy turns out to be the CPA's version of Baghdad Bob, at least some Iraqi is sounding like Iraq intends to have a government - a necessary first step towards actually having one.
