A very large number of the detainees were turned in by bounty hunters in Afghanistan with nothing but the bounty hunters word that they were AQ, not "on the battlefield", for which the bounty hunters were paid $10k or more, a fortune there. The bounty hunters then disappeared. This is one reason the government has been resisting real trials and due process - they KNOW a lot of these guys are hapless chumps that they have absolutely NO evidence of them being "terrorists". Can't reveal how we've been keeping people in jail for six years on the word of people who very well be could be terrorists themselves, and are nowhere to be found now.
