Hello Steve....Istar & NOVL don't have much in common.

NOVL is in the business of providing the software for the internet/intranet and Istar is in the business of providing a service
(similar to UUNET).

The B. of Nova Scotia bought 10% of the company on Tuesday for $10 million partly on the fear that MSFT was moving to fast on becoming the sole provider of electronic banking software. The bank in other words wanted a piece of the pie before MSFT could get hold of this lucrative market.

Istar stock closed yesterday at $6.20, up $0.50. Earlier today, it touched $6.70 before receding to $6.50 where it is currently trading.
Istar also yesterday announced that it has signed up another corporate client, Afton Food Group Inc. of Burlington, Ontario and to become their internet provider.

The company also anounced that it is getting into the business of setting up intranets...the B. of Nova Scotia is the first to sign up.

Istar is the largest internet provider in Canada. Clearly, its intentions are to seek out corporate clients.

V.K

P.S Perhaps NOVL should spend part of their $1 billion to set up/buy out a internet service provider...after all, if they are gambling on the internet/intranet to be the future, then being a provider and supplier of the software will not hurt....some food for thought.
Imagine if B. Gates started an internet service ?
