but has SGI learned from the JC disagreement? i suspect that there are still some lurking inside the corporation that advocate crippeling mass market products and holding back capability to maintain demand for more profitable products. is the upper sales team, who love selling big iron, and loath those calls about 02s and Octanes standing in the way? i have seen several instances where ASD folks expressed great anger upon hearing of some unexpected stunning capability in a desktop product. let every tier put as much as they can into their price point, and keep offering reasonable upgrade enhancments for the life of the product. in the past, it's been cheaper to buy a new box than upgrade the processor. slick shortsighted marketing, but it makes customers very wary of buying more SGI than they need today.
